BONNIE CAMOS

Bonnie Camos is a visual artist, curator, arts educator and native of Lafayette, Louisiana.

For 22 years Bonnie has been professionally exhibiting her art and actively participating in the cultural communities where she resides, having served on the boards of the Acadiana Arts Council and the Louisiana Crafts Guild.  She was owner/director of Visions Art Gallery from 2007 – 2009 curating bi-monthly exhibits of up and coming artists of Acadiana and the surrounding area.

Bonnie teaches children’s art classes in addition to conducting summer arts programs for the Children’s Museum of Acadiana and the Acadiana Symphony cultural summer camp.

She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and was an artist in residence at Louisiana Artworks in New Orleans, March 2007.  Camos’ work shifted from primarily acrylics to her current images using encaustic and mixed media assemblages.  Her work is influenced by the lush landscapes of Southwest Louisiana and the coastal plains.

“My images express the love that I have for this place we call home. Everywhere you look there is something beautiful to behold, from the rice and cane fields that surround us, to the marshlands of the coast.  I would like to engage the viewer’s senses through the use of rich colors,  serene scenes and have them feel the connection that we all have with nature.”
