Art for All Seasons                            Fall 2011

Hope Hebert, Lue Svendson & Julie Breaux

Hope was born and raised in south Louisiana, in the heart of Cajun country.  She was first introduced to painting while in high school, but has studied the old masters technique and tends to add a touch of contemporary flair.  Hope likes to achieve the middle ground between abstraction and realism and at times goes directly abstraction.  She has deep roots in the Cajun culture which are reflected in her use of antiquated finds that are often used on the canvas.  She has used acrylic and oils through the years, but favors acrylics as it flows better with her pace.  Her use of color and texture within her paintings create a bit of ease that people enjoy and smile when they view.

Lue was also influenced to think creatively from a young age having parents who encouraged her natural ability using pencil, charcoal and watercolor.  As she got older, she moved toward her professional choice to combine her love of art and nature to become a landscape architect.  Lue's experience as a professional landscape designer brings a cultured maturity to her work with oil paints, her selected medium.  She creates many scenes from the local area, what she knows best, the woods and prairies of south Louisiana.  Lue owns and operates Rue du Pont Galerie et studio on East Bridge Street in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana.

Julie is from Lafayette and began painting over 10 years ago.  She experimented with different mediums and quickly discovered her love for color and texture with acrylics.  Using bold and vibrant colors representing complimentary light in unexpected ways, her artwork is inspired by family, friends and south Louisiana culture.  Whether whimsical floral, a street scape, still life or abstract, her bold use of color will lift your spirits.
