CHRISTA BILLEAUD

South Louisianan Christa Billeaud’s artistic style is diverse.  Although she primarily paints in oils on canvas, she has also worked with arcrylics, pastels, egg tempera, enamels and oil on china.    Christa will tell you that she can and will paint “anything” and “everything”.  Her true talent lies in her ability to change from very realistic to impressionistic expression with her oil paints.  Christa has been painting for fifteen years under the direction of Pat Venable at Jeannelle’s Art Studio, a quaint little shop in her hometown of Lafayette, Louisiana.  Her favorite place to paint is outside, where she is totally able to be at peace; but she also says that she does some of her best work with her ipod streaming. Her strong faith, love of family, and spirit of voluntarism are her focus when she is not painting.

John T. Landry

A relative newcomer to the world of art, John T. Landry began painting at age 64. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys spending time in the marshes near his beloved Pecan Island, Louisiana camp, Marshview Lodge. He enjoys impressionist painting in both oil and acrylic and his subject matter is quite diverse. Inspired by nature and beautiful landscapes, he paints a varied spectrum of subjects. After retiring from two separate careers, he was inspired to take up painting by watching the glorious sunrises and sunsets from his Pecan Island camp deck.

Since his youth, he has had a love for the ‘great outdoors ‘and a keen appreciation for nature and its beauty. He grew up hunting and fishing with his father, and later with his father-in-law, family and friends. As a youngster, he had a professional taxidermy business. The strength of his paintings, which are mainly impressionist style, is depicted in the depth of colors of the sunrises, sunsets and various landscape scenes he paints.

His exhibits include the Annual Abbeville Christmas Stroll and The Big Easel a juried art event held at River Ranch in Lafayette, Louisiana. He has also exhibited at Gallery 549, Chase Towers and in The Gallery at River Ranch. His work is on display in homes, offices and collections in Louisiana, Arkansas Connecticut and Texas. He is an award-winning photographer and a member of the Lafayette Art Association. A native of Crowley, Louisiana, he has lived in Abbeville with his wife of 44 years, the former Sandra Broussard. They have two married children, Dr. Craig Landry of Lafayette and Nicole Landry Moss of Flower Mound, Texas and six grandchildren. He is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and served in the United States Marine Corps.
